1. Bastrop ISD receives D in newly released 2022-23 TEA accountability ratings

Bastrop ISD received a D for the 2022-23 school year with 65 out of a possible 100 points in the Texas Education Agency's 2022-23 school accountability ratings.

Public schools across the state were rated based on a variety of factors, including academic performance and how prepared students are for college and careers after high school.

2. Bastrop ISD passes balanced budget, teacher, staff compensation increases for 2025-26

The Bastrop ISD board of trustees passed a balanced budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year, as well as a compensation package that includes pay raises for teachers and staff funded by legislative changes in June.

Bastrop ISD marked the opening of its newest elementary school, Adelton Elementary, in August.

5. Family-owned child care facility operated by first responders opens in Bastrop

A new family-owned child care facility operated by first responders has opened in Bastrop.


The licensed child care facility, Heroic Hearts Academy, provides services for children from 6 weeks to 12 years old. It is owned and operated by six family members who are emergency medical technicians, paramedics and law enforcement throughout the county.
