1. League of Legends World Championship coming to Allen this fall, set to draw global tourism
Top esports teams from around the world will travel to Allen this fall.
The Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen will host the 2026 League of Legends World Championship this fall, and the event is expected to draw both tourism and economic impact, according to a city news release. The event center will host three matches that determine which teams will compete in the World Championship Final, the release states. The schedule includes:
- Swiss Stage: Oct. 23-26, Oct. 28-31
- Quarterfinals: Nov. 3-6
- Semifinals: Nov. 7-8
Allen is the first city in the history of the tournament to host all three matches in one location, the release states.
2. BACK TO SCHOOL: 5 things to know to start the school year in Allen ISD
School starts in Allen ISD in about two weeks, and district officials are planning to welcome thousands of students into classrooms. Here are some essentials to know for the upcoming school year.

- First day of school: Aug. 13
- Fall break: Oct. 12-14
- Thanksgiving break: Nov. 23-27
- Winter break: Dec. 21-Jan. 1
- Spring break: March 15-19
- Last day of school: May 27, last day of instruction for students
- High school graduation: May 28, ceremony for Allen High School graduates
3. Allen officials begin land development code review process to align with 2045 Comprehensive Plan
Allen officials are planning to dive deeper into the 2045 Comprehensive Plan as they review the city’s land development code.
Community Development Director Haley Angel gave a presentation to council on the role of a comprehensive plan and the process for updating the Allen Land Development Code, or ALDC, during a special called July 23 workshop.
The Allen 2045 Comprehensive Plan was adopted in April 2025 and serves as a guide for the city’s long-term growth, Angel said.
4. The Hub in Allen set to reopen under new ownership in early 2027, developer says
A new dining and entertainment venue is set to debut at The Farm in Allen in early 2027.
The concept will fill a space previously occupied by The Hub, which closed July 20, said Bruce Heller, president of Allen-based JaRyCo Development and developer of The Farm in Allen.
The site’s new owner has not yet been announced, but is a “nationally recognized food and entertainment venue operator with similar facilities around the country,” according to a July 23 news release from JaRyCo Development. The new operator is expected to renovate the existing facility as well as add new dining and entertainment options.
5. 41 townhomes coming soon to nearly 6-acre site in Allen
A new townhome community is coming soon to Allen.
Allen City Council members unanimously approved a zoning change for just under 6 acres of land near Allen Drive, which allows for the development of a 41-townhome community, at a July 28 meeting.
Located east of Central Expressway and southwest of Allen Drive, the site’s previous zoning allowed for shopping center uses, Senior Planner Kim Yockey said.
Following resident concerns, city staff realigned a driveway access along Allen Drive to allow more visibility, Community Development Director Haley Angel said.
