Restaurant offers sports and upscale food

The owners of Highlights Gametime Grill said they have hit a home run with their sports bar concept.

The Four Points bar and eatery, which opened almost a year ago in the Trails at 620 Shopping Center, has spawned a second location in Cedar Park. Owners Sharlyn Threadgill and David Quintanilla opened the Cedar Park location

in October.

"We have a sports bar feel with upscale food," said Jamie Moon, operations manager for both locations, as she described the restaurant's take on the usual beer-and-TV combination. "Our idea is one-of-a-kind."

Menu items at the Four Points location include the Maine Lobster Mac 'N Cheese ($11.99 and $19.99), crab cakes served with arugula salad ($16.99), and grilled fish tacos with a chipotle aioli sauce and guacamole ($9.99).

The chefs at the restaurant put their spin on more typical sports bar fare too.

Their burgers, for example, are made with a brisket and chuck mix and are seasoned with signature spices.

A wood-burning oven at the Four Points location allows the restaurant to produce a crispy crust on its pizzas.

"The pizzas are hot, crispy and amazing," Moon said.

Gluten-free crust is available, but pizzas are offered only at the Four Points location at this time.

Highlights serves lunch and dinner daily and offers an additional brunch menu on the weekends. Along with its more standard fare, the brunch menu includes specialty items such as The Super Bowl (jalapeo cheese grits, pulled pork, fried eggs, grilled sweet corn, roasted cherry tomatoes and habanero salsa, $10.99) and Hangover Hash (green chiles, caramelized onions, tomatoes, chopped bacon and two eggs topped with queso blanco, $9.99).

At the Four Points location, patrons can gather around the bar, sit in a booth or head outside to one of three outdoor seating areas, all of which are outfitted with TV screens.

One of the patios at the Four Points location overlooks a playscape shared with neighboring Flores Mexican

Restaurant.

"People can watch the game and their kids at the same time," Moon said.

The staff at Highlights is currently gearing up for World Cup Soccer, which begins June 12.

As a designated Heineken World Headquarters, the grill will be broadcasting all games from the World Cup and offering food and drink specials daily.

With 37 TV screens and 12 satellite dishes, Highlights can broadcast multiple games at once to satisfy even the most rabid sports fan.
