Magnolia ISD approves academic calendar for 2026-27 school year

Magnolia ISD trustees approved the calendar for the district’s upcoming 2026-27 semester at its Feb. 9 meeting following community and academic faculty feedback.

The gist

The instructional period runs from Aug. 12 to May 27, with graduation May 29.

Other dates on the 2026-27 calendar include:

• First day of school: Aug. 12
• Fall break: Oct. 12-16
• Thanksgiving break: Nov. 23-27
• Christmas break: Dec. 21- Jan. 1, 2027
• Spring break: March 15-19, 2027
• Last day of school: May 27, 2027

Assistant Superintendent of Administration Ben King said a key emphasis for this calendar development was not bringing in students too early and not letting them stay in school too long past Memorial Day. Due to the teachers’ 178-day contracts, the district had to find an equilibrium, and this is the closest they were able to get, King said.
