The application period for Tomball ISD’s limited open enrollment initiative, which opened April 2, has been extended to Friday, May 4, for the 2018-19 school year, offering students outside of TISD boundaries the opportunity to enroll in the district at select schools. Through limited open enrollment, a set number of students residing in school districts other than Tomball can attend select campuses within TISD for the 2018-19 school year. Applications for limited open enrollment are available to students in kindergarten through eighth grade until May 4 and can be found on the district’s website. The application period was previously set to close April 20. Out-of-district students may be placed at one of eight campuses in TISD this fall through the limited open enrollment initiative. Campuses include Tomball, Decker Prairie, Rosehill, Timber Creek and Creekview elementary schools as well as Tomball Intermediate School and Creekside Park and Tomball junior high schools, according to district information. Ninth-grade students are also eligible to apply for Tomball Star Academy—an Early College High School program in partnership with Lone Star College-Tomball. Additionally, students who attended TISD as part of its limited open enrollment program during the 2017-18 school year must apply again. Parents will receive a letter of their child’s acceptance or nonacceptance into TISD no later than June 29, according to district information.
