1. University Boulevard North extension and rail relocation
University Boulevard North in Sugar Land is being extended approximately 1,000 feet from Union Pacific Railroad to connect to Stadium Drive. The project includes the relocation of Union Pacific Railroad’s single track that leads to Nalco Champion. The rail portion is underway and should be completed in July. Road work for University Boulevard north of the railroad has been completed and is awaiting the rail work to be completed. Union Pacific must also complete crossing and railroad signal work. The completion date for Phase 1 is planned for late summer with Union Pacific Railroad’s work set for around October 2016. Phase 2 of the project will be funded and led by Johnson Development and is expected to be completed by 2018.

2. Austin Parkway improvements
Improvements around Austin Parkway between Hwy. 6 and Commonwealth Boulevard are substantially complete and include reconstruction of portions of Lakefield Boulevard. The entrance to the Lakes of Austin Park is under construction and should be completed by the end of summer. A 10-foot-wide concrete trail on the northbound side of Austin Parkway was installed. The project also includes the replacement of a total of 3,000 linear feet of 12-inch water line. Work is on track to be finished in August.
