The latest Boogie’s launched a food truck in late July to serve customers in the Katy and Cypress areas. The vehicle was a part of the Sugar Grove Church Christmas Market in Meadows Place on Dec. 3. Customers can follow the food truck through Boogie’s social media pages.

What we reported Bennyhill Baja Grill owners Jeff and Wendy Brooks opened Mystic Dessert Bar on March 25. It includes private party rooms as well as a main dining and lounge area.

The eatery features cakes, pies, retro candies, 24 ice cream flavors, chocolate-dipped items and beverages. The restaurant also gives “beans to bars” chocolate-making demonstrations.

The latest With its whimsical interior design and gift shop, the restaurant has hosted children’s parties since opening. The restaurant has also added custom dessert trays for events and petit fours to its offerings.

What we reported The futuristic ice cream chain opened a location in Sugar Land June 17. The store freezes the ice cream and yogurt using liquid nitrogen.

Customers pick the base and mix-ins; lactose-free, vegan and sugar-free options are available. Sub Zero has other Greater Houston area stores in Tomball, Beaumont and Pearland, as well as locations throughout the U.S.

The latest The store launched a catering service in December and has sent a mobile ice cream unit to community events. Sub Zero Ice Cream will hold more demonstrations and science experiences for children in 2017.

What we reported The Middle Spoon desserterie and bar opened Feb. 1 in Sugar Land Town Square. Mother and son Cindy and Karl Parvez own the restaurant, which is the first Texas location for the Canadian chain.

The Middle Spoon’s menu includes desserts, such as cheesecake, lemon Pavlova, pies, tortes and cocktails with fruit juices and syrups made in-house.

The latest The restaurant added soups, salads and sandwiches and is in the process of updating its menu.

What we reported Frios Gourmet Pops opened Aug. 25 in the Riverstone development. The popsicle shop sells milk- and fruit-based frozen treats with flavors, including raspberry cheesecake, coffee and doughnuts, birthday cake, avocado lime and Texas tea, among others. Frios merchandise is also available for purchase in the store.

The latest Frios lowered its prices from $4 per popsicle to $3 for fruity varieties and $3.50 for milk-based flavors.
