As Fort Bend County in-person early voting numbers approach 250,000, voting slows Oct. 22-26

In the first two weeks of early voting for the Nov. 3 election, 240,184 Fort Bend County residents have cast ballots in person, and another 22,097 mail-in ballots have been returned, according to Oct. 26 data from the county elections office.

After seeing approximately 13,000 in-person voters on the first day of early voting Oct. 13, Fort Bend County had more than 20,000 people cast ballots Oct. 14-21. Daily voting numbers have slowed some Oct. 22-26, with fewer than 5,000 ballots cast Oct. 25.

Fort Bend County has 476,910 registered voters, which means that 55% of eligible voters have done so during the first 13 days of early voting.

For comparison, ahead of the 2016 presidential election, Fort Bend County had a total of 201,655 voters—representing 49.91% of then-registered voters—who cast ballots in-person during the two-week early voting period, according to data from the Texas Secretary of State's Office.

Additionally, the Fort Bend County Elections Administrator’s Facebook page said voting numbers for this year’s elections has already surpassed the total number of votes cast in the 2018 midterm elections.

Each of the county’s 30 early voting centers are open until 7 p.m. Oct. 27 and from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Oct. 28-30. On Election Day, Nov. 3, Fort Bend County will have 84 polling places open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
