Two candidates are running for Texas House District 139 in the Nov. 3 election, challenger Kyle Harding and Charlene Ward Johnson who is seeking reelection.
Early voting begins Oct. 19 and runs through Oct. 30, according to the Texas Secretary of State's website. Election day is Nov. 3 and polls are open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Why are you running for this position?
I am running for re-election to continue advocating for<br>students, seniors, working families, & access to quality healthcare. I will fight for safe<br>neighborhoods, strong schools, economic opportunities & infrastructure that protects families<br>from flooding and environmental hazards; while listening to residents and delivering practical<br>solutions that help District 139 thrive.
What would your top priorities be if elected?
My top priorities are affordable housing,<br>stronger infrastructure and flood mitigation, better schools and workforce training, quality<br>healthcare, and environmental protection. I’ll secure funding for drainage, roads, and public<br>education while supporting responsible development that brings jobs and affordable housing<br>without displacing families.
How will you balance the development of data centers and other large projects with<br>constituent concerns about rapid growth?<br>
I support responsible development that creates jobs, expands the tax base, and brings investment to District 139—but growth must not come at the expense of residents’ health, safety, or quality of life. Major projects should require transparency, meaningful community input, environmental and infrastructure reviews, and plans<br>for roads, drainage and utilities.<br>
How do you plan to involve residents in the decision-making process?
I believe government works best when residents are actively engaged. I will continue to visit<br>neighborhood meetings, host community events, and listening sessions throughout the district,<br>while also using online surveys and social media. I will provide updates on legislation,<br>development projects, and community concerns so residents stay informed.
