“We treat our patients as if they're family. We give them that extra attention,” practice manager Brad Bowsher said. “Last Saturday, I had a patient call because she was experiencing discomfort. I called her that evening. I called her again on Sunday, and I called her again Monday morning to check on her. She said, ‘I've never had an office who cares so much.’ She was overwhelmed by that. We really do go the extra mile for our patients.”

The story of Tropical Dental Care begins with Dr. Friedrichs, whose vision for compassionate dentistry was inspired by his close ties to the community. His legacy and service remains at the core of the practice today.
“Dr. Friedrichs wore tropical-themed shirts in dental school, so his friends started calling him the tropical dentist. When he sold his practice to Dr. Tran in December 2019, Dr. Tran was determined to carry on the high standard of care that Dr. Friedrichs set forth for so many years, as well as the tropical theme. So we decided to rename it Tropical Dental Care,” Bowsher said.

At Tropical Dental Care, patients aren’t just another name on a chart—they’re treated like family. From the first consultation to the final follow-up, the team is dedicated to building trust through education, transparency and empathy.
Their personalized approach has led to countless success stories, including a remarkable smile makeover for a patient originally from Scotland. Self-conscious about her teeth for years, she sought the expertise of Tropical Dental Care to turn her dream smile into reality. When the transformation was complete, her joy was overwhelming.
“When we seated all the permanent bridge and crown work, she went out and bought a ticket to Scotland. She came to our office the day before she left and said, ‘I'm so excited! I'm going back to Scotland to show off my smile,’” Bowsher said.

For over 20 years, Tropical Dental Care has partnered with Boys and Girls Country, a nonprofit organization that supports children and young adults facing adversity. Twice a year, the team offers free dental care to participants in the program’s College and Career initiative. These young adults, many of whom come from unimaginable challenges, inspire the staff with their resilience and determination.
“These kids are so inspirational,” Bowsher said. “Twice a year we see them at no cost. We do whatever dental work they need, and we get a lot more out of interacting with those wonderful kids than we could ever give. They've come from such a dark background, and to see them be so successful is great.”
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including digital X-rays and a 3D computed tomography scanner, Tropical Dental Care offers comprehensive services ranging from routine checkups to complex procedures like wisdom teeth extractions and dental implants. Their on-staff oral surgeon—a trusted colleague of over 25 years—ensures patients receive expert care in a comforting environment. But no matter how advanced the technology, the team never loses sight of what matters most: the people they serve.

“After receiving care, many of our patients’ personalities are completely transformed. They're smiling without having their hand over their mouth. They're not self-conscious anymore, and you can just see their personalities blossom,” Bowsher said.
As Tomball continues to grow, Tropical Dental Care stays true to its core values of trust, compassion and excellence. The practice is more than a dental office; it’s a sanctuary where every patient is genuinely seen, valued and cared for.
