Winestein’s Tasting Room offers more than just a tasting experience—it creates a welcoming space for wine lovers of all levels to explore, learn and connect.

Michael and Maranda Einstein opened the tasting room Oct. 18 at 280 N. Main St., Grapevine.

Michael’s passion for wine began on a trip to Bath, England, when his friends ordered a bottle of red wine to go with their dinner. He said all of the sudden he understood why people were fascinated with the drink. Maranda’s passion for wine grew through her relationship with Michael, and the couple got married at a winery in Oregon in 2020.

At the heart of Winestein’s Tasting Room is a mission to demystify wine.

“There's a lot of people who love wine, but they don't know why they love wine,” Michael said. “We wanted to do something that was really event focused to help people be comfortable and learn more about wine.”

When designing the space, Michael said he and Maranda wanted the space to feel like a living room in a home.

“We really wanted people to come in and feel relaxed,” Michael said. “We wanted people to be able to invite friends to come for a drink, stay for a couple of hours and be comfortable, whether they're wearing sweats and shorts or whether they're wearing a suit.”

What makes Winestein’s Tasting Room unique is that it allows guests to shop for wine and taste wine all in one place.

“There's not really a place where you can both shop for wine and taste wine at the same time in a lounge environment,” Michael said. “This is the place where you come to taste wines from all over the place, with lots of different styles and different winemakers and a little bit of education as well.”

The tasting room sells over 90 different wines with over 40 available for tasting. In addition to Texas wines, Michael and Maranda stock wines from France, Italy, Oregon, Washington and Argentina. Guests who don’t know where to start can try one of the Genius Picks.

“Those are great wines with great stories behind them,” Michael said.

Winestein’s Tasting Room hosts two signature events. Wine FUNdamentals, teaches guests the art of tasting through a curated selection of three whites and three reds. Each wine is chosen to highlight key elements, such as how oak aging impacts chardonnay or how blending shapes the character of cabernet sauvignon. The journey is both sensory and interactive, complete with a fun aroma-identification exercise to hone participants’ tasting skills.

On Sundays, their Bubbles and Brunch event pairs sparkling wines with unique bites. Guests sample everything from prosecco and Champagne to Krispy Kreme doughnuts and Sour Patch Kids, exploring the surprising ways bubbles complement different treats.

Individuals can also rent the space to host private events, such as birthdays, bachelorette parties or corporate events.

Community members are invited to come visit the tasting room, meet the Einsteins and try something new.

“I get a lot of joy helping people find something delicious, find something new, or maybe even kind of counterbalancing people's preconceived notions about certain things,” Michael said.
