Former Austin City Council member Kathie Tovo announced Jan. 18 that she will run for mayor in 2024.
Tovo was first elected to the dais in 2011 and served through January 2023. She also served as mayor pro tem from 2015 to 2019.

Tovo is currently an adjunct faculty member at The University of Texas at Austin.
