The city of Kyle’s water utilities department has launched the transition to Advanced Metering Infrastructure, or AMI—a digital upgrade that will give residents more accurate water usage data and help detect leaks. A customer portal tied to the system is expected to go live in late 2025, according to a news release.
What to expect
Beginning in late May 2025, crews will start replacing traditional analog meters with wireless-connected digital meters across the city, the news release states. These smart meters are designed to transmit encrypted water usage data over a private radio frequency directly to the utilities department, eliminating the need for manual readings and improving accuracy to 1/100th of a gallon.
