The Buda City Council canceled the Nov. 8 race for the at-large Position 1 and single-member District C races as the incumbents have no challengers, as previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper. The council adopted the ordinance at a meeting Sept. 6.
Matt Smith is the at-large Position 1 council member, and Terry Cummings is the single-member District C council member.
Smith has been a Buda resident since 2012 and has served on the council since the end of 2020. Smith previously was parks and recreation commissioner.
Cummings has also been a Buda resident for a decade and has served on the council since late 2019. She also served as the vice chair for the Buda Historic Preservation Commission.
