Kylo Artistry
The Austin-based jewelry and accessory business opened its first brick-and-mortar location at the Tanger Outlet mall in San Marcos. The business offers permanent jewelry and accessories, including custom-fitted bracelets, necklaces and anklets.
The wig company, owned and operated by Texas State University professor Kelly Engram, provides personalized wigs to women battling hair loss in an effort to help them build confidence. They offer curated human hair and synthetic wigs, educational resources and free one-on-one consultations.
Formerly known as Red Bus Food Park, the gathering spot offering access to local food and drink trucks, events and performances has undergone a full rebrand. The business will be bringing its patrons a new stage area, food trucks, seating areas, bar and events.
Southbound Social
The newest social spot and bar in downtown San Marcos features brand new bar tops, new bathrooms and air conditioning for the first time in the building. Tejas Birria, a family-owned Birria De Res eatery, operates from the kitchen.
Sucre Cafe and Go
The locally-owned coffee and pastry shop provides customers hand-crafted drinks made from scratch. Owned and operated by Vanessa Matinez, the coffee spot is the sister company to Di Sucre by V, an area cake shop.
Tejas Birria
The small family-owned business serving Tijuana style Birria De Res opened its first food truck in a dusty lot in Buda. The eatery operates five other locations across Central Texas and opened its sixth inside the kitchen of Southbound Social in San Marcos.
Coming soon
The luxury apparel brand founded in Solomeo, Italy, in 1978, will open a location in the San Marcos Premium Outlets this summer. The new location will be the brand’s first outlet store in Texas and offer apparel, footwear and accessories for men, women and children.
The highly anticipated San Marcos location will be one of the largest in the region, totaling 74,707-square-feet. The travel center will create 200 to 225 full-time jobs and feature Buc-ee's merchandise and popular food options, including barbecue, fudge, kolaches and Beaver Nuggets.
The company will open its first location in the city this fall, providing a new in-person option for car transactions. Customers can buy or sell vehicles through the business either in person, online or both.
The 9,923-square-foot store will bring heirloom-quality home furnishings to the city this summer at the Tanger Outlet mall. The store will offer a selection of furniture, upholstery, bedding, rugs, pillows, wallpaper, lighting and décor, all designed in-house by the Serena & Lily brand.
The drink shop with over 150 locations across the country, will bring its signature dirty sodas to San Marcos along I-35. An official date for the spot’s opening has not yet been set. In addition to dirty soda’s, the business offers refreshers and exclusive Reviver energy drinks.
In the news
On June 28, the EAA celebrated its 30th year of serving the community. The regional water management agency is responsible for regulating the use of the Edwards Aquifer, a resource that provides water to a large number of Texans and municipalities.
In 2021, the Price Center and Garden opened a part-time resale shop to help fund its operations and support local vendors. Shop 1893 will celebrate its fifth anniversary all of July with a month-long sale. The store offers decor, jewelry, household goods, clothing and more from over 40 small and local vendors.
Worth the trip
The newest Italian scratch-kitchen has opened its doors to customers in Wimberly, expanding the footprint of local restaurateur Gennaro DiMeo. He has crafted menu items with his own personal touch, adding a southern Italian flair inspired by his upbringing in Naples, Italy.
