Construction for Retama Parkway is underway, limiting the road to two-way traffic on one side.

The details

The contract for Retama Parkway and Alton Boulevard was approved in May, with the city investing around $5.31 million on the construction of both roads.

This project involves the reconstruction of approximately 4,500 linear feet of roadway with six-foot sidewalks, six-foot bike lanes and drainage improvements on Retama Parkway between Lookout Road and IH-35.

During construction, traffic will be limited and access to The Light Park and Retama Park will remain available.

Construction of the parkway will help the city prepare for the opening of University Health Retama Hospital and Selma Elementary School.

The road is expected to be under construction for around six months before being completed.
