Work on the I-35 Northeast Expansion Central project has been ongoing for over a year, resulting in weekly lane closures and adjustments to traffic along the roadway.

The $1.5 billion project is part of Texas Clear Lanes and is aimed to increase mobility, reduce congestion and enhance safety for drivers.

To address the traffic problem, the project will include 9.5 miles of elevated lanes with three lanes going each direction, northbound and southbound.

As part of the project, the southbound lane of I-35 frontage road between Judson Road and Toepperwein Road will have a long-term lane closure.

This closure will close the left lane through Aug. 2 for retaining wall, drilled shaft, column and cap work.

Alongside the closure, other entrance ramps, lanes and other roadways will be temporarily closed throughout the project, with closures being updated on a weekly basis. Commuters can sign up for updates on the project and upcoming closures here.
