Starting the week of June 30, the city of Schertz will transitioning from Republic Services to Frontier Waste Solutions, following an agreement approved by Schertz City Council on April 1. Monthly costs for services will increase from $14.46 to $19.20.

Current situation

The city posted its updated schedules for pickup on social media May 30, along with reminders for residents about the transition to Frontier Waste Solutions services.

Schertz residents will have garbage picked up once per week, and recycling and brush/bulk pickup will take place every other week.

Garbage collection will move from southern to northern portions of the city from Monday to Friday, according to the city's collection map.

Recycling and brush/bulk pickup will alternate for different parts of the city.

Frontier Waste Solutions also has a household hazardous waste option, so items like pesticides can be called for a pickup appointment without residents having to handle it, Assistant City Manager Sarah Gonzalez told council April 1.

Next steps

All residents will receive a 96-gallon trash cart and a 96-gallon recycling cart to be distributed beginning the week of June 9.
