Guadalupe County lifted its burn ban Feb. 14 after a "considerable amount" of rainfall in all or parts of the unincorporated areas of the county, according to a news release.

How we got here

The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court approved a burn ban in October due to the Keetch-Byram Drought Index in Guadalupe County being 637. The index rating system ranges from 0-800; however, ratings ranging from 600-800 are typically associated with increased wildfire occurrence, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.

At the beginning of January, the county had temporarily lifted its burn ban until Jan. 20 due to rainfall.

Keep in mind

County officials are encouraging individuals to exercise caution and continue to follow state laws regarding burning procedures, which still apply.
