Unofficial results from Guadalupe County show Summer-Marie Brown and Shari McDaniel advancing to a runoff election, receiving 44.37% and 22.86% of the vote, respectively.

Of the 4,073 votes cast, 1,685 went to Brown and 931 went to McDaniel. Robert Mahoney received 687 votes while Cody Hicks received 770.

Due to no candidate receiving the majority of votes required by Section 5.04 of the Cibolo City Charter, council will hold a runoff election.

Community Impact will continue to report on the story as it develops. All results are unofficial until canvassed.

Early vote totals are in, showing Summer-Marie Brown leading the polls for Cibolo City Council Place 7.

The breakdown

Four candidates ran for the seat, with Brown leading at 38.41% of votes. The second-highest vote-getter in early totals was Shari McDaniel with 24.04%. Robert Mahoney and Cody Hicks received 18.28% and 19.27% of early votes, respectively.

With four candidates on the ballot, the election could move into a December runoff if no candidate received more than half the total votes.

In 2023, Cibolo officials approved the redistricting of City Council seats, shifting seven single-member districts to four single-member districts and three at-large seats. At-large seats serve the entire city rather than a select group of residents. Place 7 is the final at-large seat to be filled under the new City Council composition.
