Unofficial election results show a runoff will take place between election night leaders Marissa-Ellen Patterson and Maria Fishback, who garnered 43.96% and 35.42% of votes, respectively.

Because neither candidate accumulated 50% or more of the vote on election night, the two frontrunners will head to a runoff election, slated for Dec. 13, according to the Texas Secretary of State's office.

Guadalupe County saw 21,804 votes cast out of 133,209 registered voters, representing 16.37% voter turnout.

Marissa-Ellen Patterson and Maria Fishback remain in the lead with 42% and 36.6% of votes respectively. Approximately 148,450, or 11.54% of Guadalupe County's 1,286,746 registered voters have cast a ballot with 4 of 38 Guadalupe County precincts reporting.

The City of Cibolo has three seats up for grabs, including the mayor and council member places 3 and 7 positions.

What you need to know


The city has four candidates vying for the Cibolo City Council Place 3 position, looking to replace Robert Mahoney—who is running for the Place 7 position.

According to unofficial early voting results, Marissa-Ellen Patterson, Maria Fishback and Joe Armstrong lead with 304 votes, 267 votes and 93 votes, respectively. Charles Ruppert has 64 votes.

Maria Fishback is a contracts manager and legal assistant. Fishback’s priorities are maintaining city infrastructure, with a focus on taxpayer transparency. She also notes that if elected, she wants to help grow the commercial tax base for the city.

Marissa-Ellen Patterson is a data analyst with nearly 20 years of experience in community service and military family advocacy. Her priorities include balancing growth in the city with sustainable infrastructure and keeping pace with growing quality of life needs.


Joe Armstrong is a Retired U.S. Army veteran with a Master's degree in public administration. Armstrong’s priorities include public transparency and opening communications with homeowner associations.

Charles Ruppert is the former mayor of Cibolo, who served for two terms from 2001 to 2009. This will be Ruppert’s second attempt at the seat, running for Cibolo’s Place 3 seat unsuccessfully in 2022. Ruppert did not reply to a request for a statement in time for publication.

In early voting, there were 11,574 ballots cast countywide, which represents 8.69% of Guadalupe County's 133,209 voters.


Totals from ballots cast Nov. 4 have yet to be released. Polls closed at 7 p.m., although voters who were in line at 7 p.m. were still able to cast ballots.
