Unofficial May 3 election results in the race for Selma City Council Place 6 show incumbent Kenneth Polasek as the victor over challenger Cori Mitchell.
According to unofficial results from Comal County and Guadalupe County, Polasek is leading the race with 73 votes, or 77.66%. Mitchell has received 21 votes, or 22.34% of votes.
"I'm excited for the city of Selma," Polasek told Community Impact about being elected to another term. "I think we have a great team going forward, and I think we have a pretty progressive agenda for the next two years that I look forward to being part of."
Mitchell told Community Impact that she was grateful for the opportunity to run for council and appreciates all voters who cast ballots.
"Although I was not elected to this seat, my commitment remains the same," Mitchell said. "I want to be a voice for the city of Selma and will continue looking for ways to serve and support our city."

All five Guadalupe County polling locations are reporting, with 1,012 ballots cast, representing 3.75% of Guadalupe County's 26,952 voters. A total of 2,313 ballots have been counted in Comal County thus far, representing 8.95% of Comal County's 25,833 voters.

Incumbent Kenneth Polasek is leading the race for Selma City Council Place 6 with 53 votes, or 77.94% against Cori Mitchell. Mitchell has received 15 votes, or 22.06% of votes, according to unofficial early voting results from Comal County and Guadalupe County.

In early voting, Guadalupe County saw 625 early voting ballots cast, representing 2.32% of Guadalupe County’s 26,952 voters.
A total of 2,054 ballots were cast in early voting in Comal County, representing 7.95% of Comal County’s 25,833 voters. Two early ballots were cast specifically in the Selma election, according to the Comal County elections website.
