The city of Schertz will have two contested races on the Nov. 8 ballot.

Mayor Ralph Gutierrez will be running for re-election against two opposing candidates, and three candidates will contest for City Council, Place 2, which was left vacant after Rosemary Scott resigned in February.

Read Q&As with each candidate below. Candidates were asked to keep responses under 50 words, answer the question provided and avoid attacking opponents. Answers may have been edited or cut to adhere to those guidelines, or for style and clarity.

Candidates with no Q&A did not return the questionnaire by the deadline. Early voting begins Oct. 24 and runs through Nov. 4. Election Day is Nov. 8.
