On Feb. 16, the city of Schertz announced that Council Member Rosemary Scott resigned from City Council Place 2 due to health concerns.

Schertz City Council on Feb. 22 accepted the resignation, and Council Members Michael Dahle and Allison Heyward thanked Scott for her dedication to the city and her time on the council.

“I would just like to thank Miss Scott for her service to the city,” Dahle said. “It is rare that people will stand up and volunteer their time these days, and she certainly did that, and her time and efforts are appreciated.”

Mayor Ralph Gutierrez wished Scott well and the best in her future endeavors.

“It is a sad moment, and sometimes moving on starts with a goodbye,” Gutierrez said.

Council in closed session discussed how to handle the vacancy and came to the decision to leave the position vacant until the November election.
