The city of Universal City on Aug. 11 celebrated the opening of a new playground at Veterans Park. The project broke ground in March, adding new amenities to the park.

This is the second playground the city has opened over the last month with the playground opening at Cimarron Park in July.

Playground designs were influenced by the U.S. Air Force with the base of the playground being shaped like an airplane due to its proximity to Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph Air Force base.

Equipment includes slides, climbable equipment and more. Areas of the playground are shaded to allow children to use the new amenity during sunny days. Playground equipment is targeted for ages 5-12.
