Due to the high heat days throughout the summer, and an excessive heat warning for the Central Texas region through June 22, CPS Energy has sent out reminders to customers regarding the new system.
The program consists of four color-coded energy conservation levels that guide customers to use simple conservation tips linked to the anticipated demand for energy.
This program is updated by CPS Energy each day through the company’s website, electronic billboard messages, social media and various other public outreach efforts.
CPS Energy has designated days of high heat as yellow days, which encourage energy conservation between 3 and 8 p.m.
During these days, customers are encouraged to raise thermostats if safe to do so, charge electric vehicles at night, and avoid using large appliances, such as washers, dryers and ovens, during times of peak energy demand, according to a June 15 news release.
More information about energy conservation can be found on the CPS Energy website, where status will be updated daily.
