The Universal City Citizens Police Academy begins July 21. Classes give residents the opportunity to meet local law enforcement and learn what they do on a daily basis.

According to city staff, the academy is an 11-week course held each Thursday designed to give citizens and local business owners an inside look at the Universal City Police Department.

Topics the course covers include department operations, patrol, criminal investigations, accident investigation, warrants and other areas of police work.

Those interested in participating must be at least 18 years of age and pass a criminal history check. The academy is open to all Universal City residents, business owners and their employees.

Registration can be completed here, and more questions can be answered by contacting the UC Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association at 210-659-0333, ext. 526.
