Texas Capital Bancshares, parent company of Texas Capital Bank, announced one San Antonio organization and three other Texas nonprofits as recipients of its first annual honors awards program.
Awarded through the Texas Capital Bank Foundation, which the firm began in 2022 to expand and elevate its philanthropic efforts, the program includes three grants of $50,000 each that correspond to the bank's community impact pillars of “Live,” “Learn” and “Lift,” a news release states.
The fourth grant is the STAR, or Supporting our Troops, Active and Remembered, Award, a $100,000 grant awarded to an organization that offers services to military members, families and veterans, the release states.
Locally, St Vinny's Bistro, part of the San Antonio-based Society of St. Vincent de Paul Southwest Texas Council, was awarded TCBF's “Lift” grant.
St. Vinnys Bistro was launched in 2010 to provide three hot, nutritional meals each day in the courtyard at Haven for Hope, serving unsheltered individuals an average of 1,100 to 1,400 meals daily.
Additionally, St. Vinny’s Bistro volunteers provide sack lunches for those who work in the community, and offer medicinal meals for those who need to take their medication with food. Volunteers also redirect homeless individuals toward job training and employment opportunities.
TCBF’s grants were also awarded to Abide Women’s Health Services in Dallas, Austin-based Todos Juntos Learning Center, and SERJobs in Houston.
Effie Dennison, TCBF president and the bank’s head of community development and corporate responsibility, said the honors awards recipients were selected for their impact across certain Texas communities.
“We are honored to recognize and support their work as they address some of our communities’ greatest needs,” Dennison said in a statement.
