Centria Autism, a national provider of applied behavior analysis, or ABA, therapy for people with autism, celebrated the opening of a new center in San Antonio with an Aug. 29 ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Located on 1920 Grandstand Drive, the 10,885-square-foot facility opened its doors to the public June 5 and has the capability to serve 55 clients, according to a news release.

Timothy Yeager, Centria Autism chief clinical officer, said the San Antonio opening demonstrates the quality of Centria’s services and level of client trust, and enables the organization to expand care to serve people with autism and their families all over the country.

“Our existing Texas facilities have introduced us to so many amazing families, and we’re thrilled to be furthering our reach there so as to continue engaging with the state’s wonderful autism community,” Yeager said in a statement.

The new ABA therapy center can immerse 2- to 18-year-olds with autism in a more focused, social environment, regularly presenting opportunities to expand upon socialization and communication skills through engaging with other children at the center, the release states.

Additionally, clients spend their time at the center in one-on-one therapy sessions with their behavior technician following interventions that were laid out by their board-certified behavior analyst.

The San Antonio center is the latest Centria center to implement the Foundations of Care model of universal protocol, wherein a practical functional assessment is employed to accurately identify what sort of behavioral patterns are at play and where they stem from, the release states.

This then informs a skills-based treatment plan, developed in accordance with the client’s aspirations and developmentally appropriate treatment goals. Centria is one of the first and only autism therapy providers undertaking this level of standardization in treatment, the release states.

Centria provides services in 11 total states, but plans to expand further nationwide.

“We’ll be opening several other locations throughout the remainder of 2023, introducing our Foundations of Care model to communities nationwide,” Yeager said. “We’ve never been in a better position to honor our commitment to serving people with autism to the fullest extent, so to be witnessing growth of this caliber in tandem with the practical and technological advancements we’ve debuted this year makes this a really proud moment for Centria.”
