San Antonio-based app LASO Health on Jan. 24 announced the launch of a health care app and website called LASO Plus, which company officials said will enhance people’s in-person visits with health care providers with upfront pricing, convenient booking and payment.

Company leaders made the announcement at the Geekdom Event Center in downtown San Antonio, joined by Dirk Elmendorf, co-founder of local high-tech firm Rackspace and chair of the local tech advocacy organization Tech Bloc.

LASO officials said LASO Plus is a membership-based telehealth service provider available across all 50 states. LASO Plus is an evolution of LASO Health and expands its mission to increase people’s access to the best care with quality providers.

“Our extensive effort to take the LASO Plus vision to market is in hopes of revolutionizing health care,” LASO CEO Tim Kaufeldt said in a statement. “Our team raised $8 million to fulfill the dream of providing exceptional and accessible health care a reality.”

According to a news release, with LASO Plus, monthly memberships will offer affordable access to around-the-clock telehealth services provided by Walmart Health Virtual Care, through which primary, mental and behavioral health care providers can be scheduled and seen within a few days time.

The release said LASO Plus integrates with WHVC's telehealth service provider Application Programming Interface to provide quality care at the time of need, no matter the time or place.

Dr. Hamed Mizani, LASO Health founder and chair and a nephrologist who also founded South Texas Renal Care Group, said he wanted to do something to help improve health care services for the community.

“Our goal is to change health care by increasing accessibility for those who are insured and uninsured. This is only the beginning,” Mizani said in a statement.

LASO partners with more than 150 medical, dental and wellness providers in the San Antonio market for in-person visits and expanded to the Austin market in December, the release said.
