During its Jan. 30 meeting, San Antonio City Council appointed three new board members to fill vacancies on the SA Climate Ready Advisory Committee, with each appointee serving the remainder of an unexpired term of office, which expires May 31.

The gist

SA Climate Ready is the city’s climate action and resilience plan, which offers insights on greenhouse gas projections, areas of vulnerability to climate-change related disasters and provides strategies to reduce the city’s greenhouse gas emissions. According to the SA Climate Ready website, strategies include ways to reduce energy use, ways to increase the city’s use of carbon-free energy and how to reduce transportation energy consumption.

Board appointments:
  • Lindsay Ratcliffe for District 1
  • Debra Ponce for District 4
  • Brian Regnier for District 8
The backstory

According to city documents, appointees applied to be a SA Climate Ready Advisory Committee board member with the Office of the City Clerk, which coordinated reviews with corresponding departments and the City Attorney’s Office. After review, applications were forwarded to the respective City Council members for review. All appointments must be approved by City Council.
