During its Jan. 16 meeting, the Hill Country Village City Council approved ordinances to hold a general election May 3.

The overview

The first ordinance set the date for the general election for council member places 1, 2 and 3.

For names to be placed on the ballot, candidates must file with Frank Morales, the city administrator and acting city secretary, no later than 5 p.m. Feb. 14 at Hill Country Village City Hall, 116 Aspen Lane, San Antonio.

Polls on election day will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Voting will be conducted through electronic voting devices that are in compliance with Texas’ Help America Vote Act.


Additionally, early voting will be conducted by the Bexar County Elections Administrator Jacquelyn Callanen at the Bexar County Elections Department, 1103 S. Frio St., San Antonio. Voters can also vote early at 33 other locations throughout the Greater San Antonio area.



Early voting dates and times:
  • April 21-27, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • April 28, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
Once elected, each council member will serve a two-year term.

What else?


For the second ordinance, Hill Country Village City Council voted to authorize a contract for election services with the Bexar County Administrator to provide a series of services.

Services include:
  • Procurement and distribution of election supplies, including printing and distribution of ballots for mail-in balloting
  • Hire, train and pay election judges, clerks and other election personnel
  • Secure early voting and election day polling sites
  • Conduct early voting in person and by mail
  • Conduct election day voting
  • Tabulate election returns
  • Conduct election services for runoff if necessary
