What you need to know
Applications can be filed at City Hall from Jan. 15 until 5 p.m. Feb. 14. The Office of the City Clerk is open during regular business hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Extended hours will be available from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Jan. 15 and Feb. 14.
Candidate qualifications and requirements:
- Must be a citizen of the United States
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be a registered city of San Antonio voter
- Must have resided in San Antonio continuously for one year
- Must have resided in their respective City Council District for at least six months prior to filing an application for a place on the ballot
- Must submit two documents verifying residency
- Must designate a campaign treasurer
- Must remit a $100 filing fee and a $10 notary fee (payment options: credit card, cash, check, or money order made to the City of San Antonio). Alternatively, may collect petition signatures in lieu of the filing fee
