Hollywood Park officials recently said their new permanent fire chief, Todd Morgan, will formally assume his new duties Dec. 4.

What happened

Following an executive session discussion, City Council voted Nov. 14 to appoint Morgan fire chief/fire marshal.

Morgan replaces John Butrico, who retired Oct. 31 following more than 35 years of service to the community.

Morgan has spent the past 23 years with the Hollywood Park Fire Department, having begun his career by volunteering with the HPFD while taking paramedic training and fire academy classes. He transitioned to a firefighter reserve role while learning to become an EMT.
