Anyone wanting to enjoy Hollywood Park’s community swimming pool or rent the Voigt Center at Voigt Park are now subject to new rates at each facility.

City Council voted Jan. 17 to approve new user fees for the Voigt Park swimming pool. Hollywood Park residents using the pool will be subject to a fee schedule ranging from a $10 gate entry fee to a $300 family season pass for up to six people.

Nonresidents will be charged a $20 gate entry fee, $240 for an individual season pass, or a $600 family season pass, local officials said.

City Secretary Patrick Aten estimates the new pool fee schedule generating $135,000 in 2023. Aten said there is a need to adjust pool fees to catch up with rates charged at public pools in comparable communities in the area, and to offset increases in pool maintenance and usage.

Local officials also said there was a need to change nonresident rates because, according to state law, such rates cannot be more than double the rates imposed on residents.

Local leaders, in council discussions last year, sought adjustments in rates and other rules to help deter the frequency of large crowds at the pool during swim season, especially crowds involving nonresidents.

The council also approved a new fee schedule for Hollywood Park residents, community groups, nonprofits and businesses wanting to rent Voigt Center, the town’s community center. Effective immediately, charges range $200-$800 on Mondays-Thursdays, and $300-$1,200 on Fridays-Sundays. Fees vary depending between different types of renters, and whether the renter uses the facility for four hours or a full day. This, city officials said, is an adjustment from when the council adopted community center rental rates for 2022.
