Hollywood Park residents are invited to two community events to enjoy the first weekend of November.

An Arbor Day festival will be held from 8 a.m.-noon Nov. 6 at Voigt Center at Voigt Park, 701 El Portal Drive.

Organized by the city’s tree advisory board and Mayor Oscar Villarreal, the free Arbor Day festival will feature a tree-planting ceremony and a series of presentations about the benefits of growing trees, tree selection and how to care for them.

There also will be a talk about the oak wilt situation, a challenge with which many Hollywood Park residents are familiar.

Additionally, there will be a drawing for 10 5-gallon trees.

Also taking place at the Voigt Center, Artisan Market Day, presented by the Hollywood Park Community Association, will be held from 2-4 p.m. Nov. 7.

The event will involve several local artisans and vendors selling a range of homemade products, including clothes, art, gift items, baked goods, plants and more. Admission is free.
