Shavano Park Women’s Club and the city of Shavano Park invite local residents to take part in a blood drive, courtesy of the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center. Donors may receive a Fiesta medal from STBTC. Additionally, at the same time, day and site, Shavano Park police officers will be on hand taking drop-offs of residents’ unwanted/expired prescription drugs as part of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Barkitecture San Antonio, a superhero-themed dog festival, features model doghouses designed and built by student teams from several local schools. Students will compete for the title of best dog house. Then, all dog houses will be auctioned off in person and online. Proceeds will be donated to local animal rescues/adoption organizations.
