North East ISD now accepting applications to fill the vacant single-member District 2 seat until 5 p.m. Aug. 28.

A school board vacancy was created following the death of Trustee Terri Williams. Trustees voted Aug. 21 to have the district solicit applicants.

According to NEISD officials, individuals who wish to apply must submit a completed application, current resume and volunteer criminal history record check.

To qualify for consideration, applicants must live in single-member District 2 for at least the previous six months, have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities, and be a registered voter. Applications must be complete in order to be considered.

Applications must be submitted in person on the sixth floor of the main NEISD administration building at 8961 Tesoro Drive in San Antonio. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

If selected, the appointee will serve as District 2 trustee through the May regular board election and may apply to run as a candidate for the position for a four-year term during that election.

The board will conduct interviews of applicants at a future board meeting. Submission of an application does not necessarily guarantee an interview, NEISD officials said.
