Polling locations in at least four areas on San Antonio's north side experienced a brief power outage before battery backups could kick in shortly after 4 p.m. on Election Day, according to a message Bexar County Elections Administrator Jacque Callanen shared on social media.
Polling locations near Huebner Road, Hidden Forest neighborhood, Hartman and the city of Hill Country Village were all affected along with more than 6,000 CPS Energy Customers, Callanen said.
Power was restored to all impacted polling sites by 5:05 p.m, according to CPS Energy on Facebook and Twitter.
CPS Energy reported on social media that work crews were working to restore power due to a downed power line in the area of U.S. 281 and Bitters Road. CPS Energy also reported 6,775 customers were affected by the outage, but by 5 p.m. nearly 70% of those affected had power restored.
“Our crews are working to restore power to the remaining 505 customers,” the post stated. “Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
