Just before midnight March 1, the Republican primary for Texas House of Representatives District 122 appeared to be going to a runoff while Democrats and GOP voters selected their respective general election nominees in Texas House District 121.

As of 11:30 p.m., former San Antonio City Council Member Elisa Chan led the four-candidate GOP primary in District 122 with 38.5% of the total vote. Construction business owner Mark Dorazio was second with 27.2%.

Attorney Adam Blanchard trailed in third place with 22.2%, followed by financial executive Mark Cuthbert.

The state will hold runoff elections May 24 featuring the top two vote-getters who fall short of the 50% threshold in their respective Democratic or GOP primary.

The GOP primary winner will meet Democrat and entrepreneur Angi Aramburu in the Nov. 8 general election for a bid to succeed Republican state Rep. Lyle Larson, who is not seeking re-election in District 122. Aramburu ran unopposed in the Democratic primary.

In District 121, state Rep. Steve Allison won the Republican primary with 85.2% over Michael Champion.

Allison will meet Democrat Becca Defelice in the November general election. Defelice had 79.1% of the primary vote against Gabrien Gregory. Defelice also ran in the 2020 Democratic primary for Texas House District 121.
