The owners of martial arts school Jiu Jitsu Syndicate said they plan to close their original gym in Stone Oak and relocate in June across US 281 close to the Encino Park neighborhood.

Long story short

School officials said they will close the existing Jiu Jitsu Syndicate gym at 21750 Hardy Oak Blvd. May 31 and spend two weeks finalizing preparations at the new location at 21024 Encino Commons.

School officials said they hope to open the new location on June 17 or sooner.

Jiu Jitsu Syndicate will be housed in the same building that once accommodated Wild West San Antonio, a former country-western nightclub.

The martial arts school will sit next to El Catrin Mexican Cuisine, a Mexican restaurant that opened in December 2023.

The specifics

Jiu Jitsu Syndicate offers separate jiu jitsu courses to children ages 3-6, 7-12 and 13-17. Teenagers and adults may also learn judo, mixed martial arts or wrestling. Additionally, the school offers a self-defense and anti-bullying training program for school-aged kids.

Representatives with Jiu Jitsu Syndicate said they will offer weeklong summer camps on jiu jitsu, and self-defense/anti-bullying, beginning June 17.
