On June 3, the San Antonio Parks and Recreation announced the summer schedule for 24 city-owned outdoor pools.

What you need to know

According to a news release, the 24 outdoor pools will open June 14. All outdoor pools are free and open to the public. Each will have extended hours and select pools will offer earlier swim times. All pools will be open six days a week, including weekends, with a closure day varying by location.

The San Antonio Natatorium, a public indoor pool facility, is open year-round. Seven splash pads opened in March, with hours from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. until October.
Outdoor aquatics programming includes free group swim lessons and aqua fitness classes. Additionally, Parks and Recreation has partnered with local organizations to offer free Community Swim Days:
  • North East Independent School District Sports Park Pool
  • Southwest Independent School District Aquatic Center
  • Thousand Oaks Family YMCA

The opening of 24 outdoor pools begins the city’s regular pool season, which will continue until mid-August. Six pre-season pools opened May 24, with weekend hours. Select extended season pools will remain open into September.
