Through Dec. 12, the San Antonio International Airport is hosting a holiday music festival for a 30th year.

A news release said the airport brings in local musicians to perform for travelers in Terminal B’s baggage claim area and that, for some of the young musicians, it is the first time they have ever been to the airport or performed publicly.

Airport officials said bands, choirs, orchestras, and mariachi and church groups all celebrate while decked out in holiday attire.

Additionally, the airport is also sporting new holiday decor with inflatable characters and wreaths throughout the terminals, the release said.

Airport officials said hosting local musical groups at the airport over the holidays is part of the airport's ongoing efforts to promote local arts and culture at the facility.

“This program makes people turn and smile. The kids are so excited to get this unique opportunity to perform at the airport. It’s a happy memory they’ll carry throughout their lives,” airport Customer Experience Manager Clay White said.

Airport officials said performance times vary, but typically are held in late mornings and early afternoons each day now through Dec. 12. Scheduled performing groups include Brennan and Pieper high schools; Grace Point Church; and Tuscany Heights, Harmony Hills and Bulverde Creek elementary schools.
