New Braunfels City Council approved an agreement with Comal County-based awning supplier ShadePro for the replacement and installation of two new shade structures for the Landa Park Aquatic Complex, or LPAC, on April 14.

The cost

The shade structures—which cost $51, 390—are being funded by the city’s Fiscal Year 2025 budget using 2013 bond funds, according to agenda documents.

The need

The LPAC Bathhouse was constructed in 1937 and renovated in 1968 and 2008. The city’s Facilities Division and parks and recreation staff worked together to determine needed operational and aesthetic updates to the building. The new shade structures are part of the renovation, according to agenda documents.

The new shade structures are expected to be installed in mid-May—ahead of Memorial Day weekend—according to an email from Communications Manager David Ferguson.
