The previous process required residents to apply for a pass in-person at the Parks Administrative Office, located at 110 Golf Course Road, or at Das Rec, located at 345 Landa St., during regular business hours. If a person’s application was approved, a physical sticker—valid for three years—was issued, the news release states.
What residents should know
Under the new digital process, residents will need to submit their proof of residency and insurance information online. Then they will be issued a sticker-less parking pass that will be valid for one year, the news release states.
The pass allows eligible individuals to park for free at most of the city’s river access parks, including parking lots at:
- Elizabeth Avenue
- Hinman Island Drive
- San Antonio Street
- Mill Street
- Fair Lane at River Acres Park
- Cypress Bend Park
Before you go
Individuals who were previously registered for a Resident River Parking Pass will need to register through the online portal. After a registration request has been submitted, approval of the pass will take approximately 24 hours. Once a resident receives a confirmation email they will be able to park for free, according to the news release.
Individuals can see if they are eligible for a free Resident River Parking Pass here, and residents may register any vehicles listed on their vehicle insurance policy, according to the news release.
The registration link will be posted on the city’s website and social media April 1.
