New Braunfels City Council approved the purchase of the new gym equipment from Fit Supply, through the use of a cooperative purchasing agreement with Buyboard on Jan. 27.
The need
Das Rec has been in operation for six years, and membership has exceeded original expectations, resulting in high use of equipment at the facility.
Staff identified replacement of equipment with the highest hours of use, along with worn out machines in need of replacement to accommodate member needs, according to agenda documents.
The details
High-use equipment will be replaced, which will minimize time the equipment is out of service for maintenance and repairs. This will also help to retain members. The new equipment—which costs $99,200—is being funded through the Parks and Recreation Department fiscal year 2024-25 budget, according to agenda documents.
The new equipment includes the following:
- 4 treadmills
- 2 recumbent bikes
- 15 cycle bikes
- 1 chest press machine
- 1 delt/pec fly machine
- 3 functional trainers
- 1 adductor/abductor machine
- 1 glute trainer
- 1 dumbbell rack
- 2 Olympic flat benches
- (12) 5-50 lb. dumbbell set
- 1 Olympic incline bench
- 1 pull-up station
