The Alzheimer’s Association San Antonio & South Texas Chapter is hosting the Walk to End Alzheimer’s that will start at the Landa Park Dance Slab in New Braunfels.

A closer look

According to a news release, nearly 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease, and more than 11 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer’s or dementia. In Texas, there are more than 459,000 people living with the disease and over 1 million caregivers, the release stated. The walk will be a fundraiser for the organization, with a goal to raise $102,000 this year.

During the event, participants will honor those affected by Alzheimer’s with a Promise Garden ceremony—a mission-focused experience that signifies the fight against the disease. Participants will carry flowers of various colors, each color representing their personal connection to the disease, according to the release.
