The Texas Education Agency conducted intruder-detection audits statewide between June 2022 and November 2025. Within that time, TEA completed 11 audits across all campuses in the district, according to the meeting presentation.
The update
The most recent set of audits—conducted in October 2025—highlighted three key action items aimed at strengthening campus security; including additional training, creating a comprehensive safety plan and having corrective measures reviewed by the district safety board, according to the presentation.
All campus employees received in-person training to ensure exterior doors remain fully closed, locked and latched at all times. CISD also developed a comprehensive improvement plan focused on tightening safety procedures. The plan prioritizes maintenance and timely completion of work orders for exterior doors, according to the presentation.
Before you go
Findings from the audits—and subsequent corrective measures—will be reviewed with the district’s Safety and Security Committee on April 16, 2026. This committee provides oversight and recommendations related to emergency operations, compliance and campus safety, according to the district’s website.
While the board has been formally notified of the audit results, TEA guidelines prohibit discussion of specific findings, including specific deficiencies at campuses across the district in open session, according to the presentation.
