The New Braunfels ISD Board of Trustees is looking to purchase new playground equipment and sun shades for Seele and Carl Schurz Elementary Schools.

One playground will be replaced at each campus, Billy Kidd, director of construction services said during a presentation to the board Jan. 13.

Both projects will be funded through the district’s 2024 Bond Proposition A, according to agenda documents.

The existing playscape at Seele Elementary School will be demolished and replaced with a new playscape and a new playscape will be installed next to one of the existing playgrounds at Schurz Elementary School, according to agenda documents.


Each playground will have 16 activity stations, including:
  • 4 slides
  • 1 snake climber
  • 1 vertical rung ladder
  • 2 talk tubes
  • 4 standard swings
  • 2 ADA compliant swings
The timeline

Kidd said the projects will be presented with a funding proposal at a future board meeting. Pending board approval construction is anticipated to begin after the school year ends and be completed before Aug. 1, 2025, Kidd said.
