New Braunfels ISD officials released Scenario No. 1 for new elementary attendance zones in December to prepare for the 2025-26 school year.

The plan addresses district growth and the opening of two new campuses in August 2025.

The latest updates

NBISD will present Scenario No. 2 for the proposed attendance zones later January, according to a Dec. 10 news release from the district.

The district plans to open Lamar Elementary under the Unicorn feeder pattern to New Braunfels High School and Legend Point Elementary under the Dragon feeder pattern to Long Creek High School.

The proposed zones aim to balance enrollment, align feeder patterns and limit disruptions for students, according to the release.

NBISD gathered feedback on Scenario No. 1 through:
  • An in-person forum held Dec. 18 at Klein Road Elementary.
  • Online surveys, which closed Dec. 20.
Next steps

The district is using this feedback to revise the proposal before presenting Scenario No. 2, according to the release.

A second forum is scheduled for Jan. 23 from 6-7 p.m. at Veramendi Elementary, and online feedback will be accepted from Jan. 8-24.

Starting in August 2026, NBISD plans to reopen County Line Elementary as a districtwide magnet school.

Students currently zoned for County Line will be reassigned to nearby campuses after the 2025-26 school year, according to the release.

The current Lamar campus will serve as the School of Choice—to be renamed Two Rivers Academy beginning with the 2025-26 school year—and the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program, as per previous reporting.
